Everywhere: Celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the MSC Generalate in Rome
Saturday June 27, 2026
On 12 June 2026, the entire family of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) celebrated the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with great joy at the MSC Generalate House in Rome. This celebration was a special occasion to renew the commitment to life and mission rooted in the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the source of love that inspires and drives the Church’s mission.

The celebration began with a Mass presided by the Superior General of the MSC, Mario Abzalón Alvarado MSC. In his homily, he encouraged everyone to be aware of what he termed ‘artificial hearts’ and ‘artificial spirituality’ – ways of life that may remain active and productive, yet have lost their centre: love. In his view, the essence of Christian life is not merely efficiency or success, but the love that flows from the Heart of Christ. He emphasised that the mission of the Church and the MSC is to help humanity remain truly human by journeying from the head to the Heart of Christ, where love, compassion and mercy find their source.
This Eucharistic celebration was also celebrated with thanksgiving for the 25 years of religious life of Darwin Tatheus MSC and Richard Suresh MSC. This jubilee provided an opportunity to reflect on God’s faithfulness, which has continually accompanied their vocational journey, and to serve as an inspiration for other members of the MSC.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the gathering continued with a reception attended by members of the community, friends and invited guests, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Holy See. An atmosphere of communion and joy characterised the gathering, strengthening the bonds of brotherhood in the spirit of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
