The 2026 Fraternity Campaign was organized by the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB). As in every year, it aims to lead the Church in Brazil toward a broader and deeper socio-economic-political-religious reflection, guided by the Gospel. This year’s campaign aimed to raise society’s awareness of the right to decent housing and care for vulnerable populations. Its theme is “Fraternity and Housing,” and its motto is “He came to dwell among us” (Jn 1:14).

In this spirit, after spending the Lenten season reflecting on this issue in all the parishes of the Diocese of Registro, our Bishop, Dom Manoel, M.Sc., suggested that we take concrete action by helping one or more families from our parishes who are in precarious housing situations—or who do not even have a home to live in. The Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Barra do Turvo, São Paulo—motivated and encouraged by the parish priest, Father Aloir Salla, MSC, and the vicar, Father Robson Pires, MSC—launched a raffle to raise funds, purchase building materials, and thus help a family that has nowhere to live. In April, after Easter, construction began, thanks to the willingness of some parishioners to volunteer their time.

In this way, with more than just reflection, or than just words, we bear witness to the Kingdom through our actions, always in support of our brothers and sisters – especially the less fortunate – whom Jesus holds dear.
